In short

1. Data that stays in your browser

Drawings, revisions, preferences and quiz progress are saved in your browser’s local storage on your device. We cannot see them. Use Menu → Export my data to keep a backup, Import my data to restore it, and Reset my data to delete it. Downloaded PDFs contain the drawing data, so they can also be imported to restore a drawing.

2. PDF downloads and imports

To build a PDF, the drawing data (including any logo you added) is sent to our server; to import a PDF, the file is uploaded. Both are processed in a temporary folder that is deleted as soon as the response is sent. We do not keep copies.

2a. Quote requests

When you use Get a quote, we store your request on our server: the drawings you selected (as PDFs, including the drawing data), quantities, target dates, notes, the options you chose and your contact details (name, work e-mail, and optionally company, phone, country, postal code, role, budget and how you heard about us). We share the drawings, quantities and the details a shop needs to quote with vetted fabrication shops, solely to prepare quotes for you, and we use your contact details to send you the quotes and follow up on that request. If you mark a request as export-controlled or needing an NDA, we contact you before sharing it with anyone. Your details are remembered in this browser to pre-fill the next request. We keep quote requests for up to 24 months (longer only if you place an order and records are needed) and delete a request, its drawings and your details on request — e-mail [email protected] with the reference ID.

3. Feedback, waitlist and assistant votes

If you send feedback or join the fab marketplace waitlist, we store what you type (message, e-mail address, role, company if given), the page you sent it from and the time. Assistant 👍/👎 votes store the topic, your question text and the vote, without any identifier. We do not store your IP address with these entries. We use this only to improve the site and, for the waitlist, to contact you about the marketplace. We do not sell it. Ask us any time to see or delete your entry.

4. Visit statistics

If statistics are switched on, we use a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics service that counts page views and a few events (PDF download, PDF import, quote requested, quiz completed, feedback sent) in aggregate. It does not use cookies or build profiles of individual visitors.

5. Server logs and security

Our server keeps short technical logs (time, page or API path, status, a shortened IP address) to keep the service running and to stop abuse; rate limiting uses the full IP address in memory only. If error reporting is enabled, technical error details are sent to our error-tracking provider.

6. Service providers

The site runs on a cloud hosting provider and may use a content-delivery and security network in front of it, an analytics service and an e-mail service for notifications. They process data on our behalf only to provide those services. For quote requests, the fabrication shops we ask to quote receive the information described in section 2a.

7. Retention and your rights

Quote requests are kept as described in section 2a. Feedback and waitlist entries are kept until they are no longer needed or you ask us to delete them. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your data. Contact [email protected]. The site is not intended for children.
