In short
- is a free, unofficial aid for preparing optical element drawings in the ISO 10110 notation.
- You must check every drawing against the current ISO 10110 standards and your own requirements before you use it to order, quote or manufacture anything.
- Quote requests are shared with vetted fabrication shops only to prepare quotes; nothing is ordered until you approve a quote.
- The site is provided “as is”, without warranty, and our liability is limited as described below.
1. The service
(www.orderoptics.com, “we”) lets you edit a lens drawing in your browser, download it as a PDF, import a PDF back, learn the notation and use a reference assistant. We may change, pause or stop any part of the service at any time.
2. Unofficial aid — the ISO standards are the authority
is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by ISO or any national standards body. The ISO 10110 series, available from ISO and national standards bodies, is the only authoritative source for the notation. Our explanations, defaults, examples, quiz answers and assistant replies are summaries and can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Items marked verify could not be fully confirmed from public sources.
3. You verify before manufacture
You are responsible for the drawings you create, download, share or send to a supplier, including every value, tolerance, symbol, note and the title block. Have drawings checked by a qualified person before releasing them. Do not rely on the site for safety-critical, medical, military or other high-risk applications without independent verification.
4. Your content
Your drawings stay yours; we claim no ownership of them. Most of your data stays in your browser (see the privacy notice). When you download or import a PDF, the drawing data is sent to our server only to build or read that file and is not kept. Only upload logos, names and documents you have the right to use.
Every drawing carries the small note “Prepared by www.orderoptics.com” in the top margin, outside the drawing frame. It is part of the free service and cannot currently be removed.
4a. Quote requests
When you use Get a quote, you ask us to collect quotes for the drawings you select. You agree that we may share those drawings, the quantities and dates you enter and your contact details with vetted fabrication shops solely so they can prepare quotes. Shops quote independently; we do not guarantee that any shop will quote, or the price, lead time or quality offered. Nothing is ordered until you approve a quote, and any order will be subject to the terms agreed at that point. If you tell us a drawing contains export-controlled data or needs an NDA, we will contact you before sharing it with anyone. You are responsible for having the right to share the drawings you submit and for complying with export-control rules that apply to them.
5. Acceptable use
Please don’t overload, probe or disrupt the service (for example with automated bulk requests), try to get around rate limits, upload malicious files, or use the site to break the law or anyone’s rights. We may block traffic that does.
6. No warranty
To the extent the law allows, the service and everything it produces are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not promise that the site will be available, error-free or that drawings will be accepted by any supplier.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost data, scrapped parts, re-work, delays or procurement costs, arising from your use of the service or of any drawing made with it. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim (for the free service, zero). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Trademarks
ISO is a registered trademark of the International Organization for Standardization. “ISO 10110” is used only to describe the notation the drawings follow. Other names belong to their owners.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site means you accept it. Questions: [email protected] or send feedback.
